How to Prepare for a Successful Construction Project

There’s nothing better than getting to the end of a job and seeing your customer’s reaction to your work: they’re absolutely stoked and super impressed with your skills!

That (and the money of course) is what we construction experts live for. But before we’re getting great feedback and praise on our work, we have to be well-prepared for the job.

As plasterers, how can we do this so that we finish up with a successful construction project, each and every time?

In this post, the legends at Plaster Wholesalers explain. With over 30 years in the industry, we’ve mastered how to plan a great project:

Understanding your client

Success doesn’t start with you: it starts with the client. It’s so important to understand what the client wants in order to deliver winning results for them. Knowing whether your client wants standard plasterboardspecialty board, or something more on the decorative side is absolutely vital to meeting their expectations.

The good thing is, whatever type of plasterboard you need, we’ve got the products and tools for it. Our extensive range of plasterboard options, adhesives, compounds and tools will have you prepared for pretty much any plastering job.

Having a clear vision

Starting your project, it’s important to have a vision – namely, to share that vision with your client. Get to know what they’re looking for, visualise the project yourself and then start planning on how to make it happen.

Choosing quality plaster

No matter how good a plasterer you are, your work isn’t going to reflect greatness if you’re using low quality plaster. Less durable, harder to work with, poorer finish quality – these are the key signs you’re working with bad plasterboard.

Don’t use anything that isn’t by a reputable brand. Plaster Wholesalers only stock high quality gear like Knauf and James Hardie because, after 30 years in the industry, this is the only stuff we’ve ever needed!

Surface preparation

Is surface preparation the most thrilling part of the job? Probably not – but it’s definitely one of the most important. Making sure that surface is clean, smooth and with any cracks filled in helps you get a nice crisp finish with a flush piece of plasterboard.

Application

Now it’s time to do your thing! As a professional plasterer, you’ve got your plaster application routine down pat. If you’re using a new product which you’ve never used before, don’t hesitate to ask the team at Plaster Wholesalers for advice.
