Clear Pine is a light softwood that is typically a cream to light-straw in colour. It is ideal for painting, staining, waxing, and colou-washing. This knot free product is significantly easier to work with compared to knotty pine.
Very easy to work with standard tools. Its low density means it is easy to nail and holds screws very well. It can be successfully stained, painted, waxed or colour-washed. Clear Pine glues with commonly available adhesives and stains well, however it is not a suitable timber for bending. We recommend using oil-based stain finishes as water-based stains may produce a blotchy appearance.
Contours in Clear Pine are suitable for curves down to a 1000mm radius. For tighter curves, down to a 300mm radius, curved wall beads are available for selected profiles.
Contours in Clear Pine are designed for ease of installation with a secret fix tongue and groove connection. They are fast and easy to install DIY by one person. Contours in Clear Pine can be fixed directly onto prepared plasterboard, timber, steel, brick, or masonry wall surfaces.
Porta Contours can be finished by your preferred coating contractor. A typical standard finish is a clear satin (30% gloss) coating. We recommend using oil-based stain finishes as water-based stains may produce a blotchy appearance for Clear Pine. Fireshield® intumescent coating can be applied to Porta Contours to provide a Group 1 solution, compliant with the National Construction Code.
