At Plaster Wholesalers, we’re big fans of Hebel AAC. Here, we explain the several uses for Hebel, why it’s so great, and how we can help you get your hands on some for your own project.

What is AAC?

Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) is a solid yet lightweight building material that’s used in construction all around the world. It was developed in Scandinavia over 70 years ago, and has seen vast improvements since then.

AAC is made from water and dry ingredients such as sand, lime and cement, which are mixed with an expansion agent to form a semi-liquid mix called slurry which is poured into a mould. To make Hebel panels, steel mesh reinforcement is placed in the mould before the slurry pour.

What is Hebel?

Hebel is the patented product name of AAC panels, named after German engineer Josef Hebel, who established a manufacturing process where prefabricated AAC panels were reinforced with steel – vastly improving the material’s strength and structural reliability.

It looks great, is practical and remains low cost and high value. In residential construction, it can be used for external walls, floors, fences, intertenancy walls, corridor walls, shaft walls, high rise facades, balcony blades and zero party walls.
  • Commercial and industrial
Equally applicable to the commercial and industrial sectors, Hebel AAC is often employed in fire walls, floors, external walls, internal walls and services walls.
